Minister of Digital Economy delivered a lecture at Royal Jordanian National Defense College

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmad Al-Hanandeh, said: "Protecting information assets in the Kingdom is crucial to ensuring the security of all employees and residents, creating new investment opportunities, and developing businesses while increasing their effectiveness and efficiency. The Ministry's strategic vision seeks to create a digital environment that stimulates economic growth, supports entrepreneurship, and enables social and political stability."

 

This came during a lecture he delivered onTuesday, at the Royal Jordanian National Defense College, titled "Digital Economy and National Security." The lecture was presented to scholars in the 21st National Defense Course, in the presence of the College Commandant, the Brigadier General, and members of directing staff

 

The Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship added that, given the importance of cybersecurity, the government has issued the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2018-2023, which includes a set of institutional policies related to national cybersecurity. The Ministry recognizes the importance of an effective cybersecurity system at the national level, as cyberspace requires systematic and comprehensive protection at the international, local, and sectoral levels.

 

Al-Hanandeh explained that the Ministry seeks to develop The Ministry's comprehensive digital and entrepreneurial skills include providing the best digital services and ensuring their accessibility to the largest number of users. It also aims to build and develop infrastructure, provide secure access to high-quality data, review laws and regulations, enhance trust in the digital environment, and create favorable conditions for the growth and prosperity of startups.

 

The Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship emphasized that the Ministry's vision is based on achieving a safe and inclusive digital economy that achieves sustainable economic and social development. It also aims to draft laws and regulations that align with the goals of supporting and developing the digital economy and entrepreneurship, prepare policies, strategic plans, and programs to develop the digital infrastructure, develop integrated and reliable digital government services, and build, manage, and operate a national information system utilizing sectoral databases to contribute to decision-making and enhance citizens' digital and entrepreneurial skills.

 

Al-Hanandeh pointed out that, given the importance of digital transformation and its impact on life, the Ministry has prepared the National Digital Transformation Strategy and Executive Plan (2021-2025), which outlines the strategic requirements necessary to improve the provision of government services, raise the efficiency of government performance, and keep pace with the progress of digital transformation globally. This will provide a digital environment that stimulates economic growth and supports entrepreneurship. Business and social and political stability.

 

Regarding Jordan's ability to effectively participate in e-commerce, the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship explained that the objective of assessing Jordan's e-commerce readiness is to raise awareness of the opportunities and challenges related to e-commerce and to increase national initiatives (policies and programs) aimed at enhancing Jordan's readiness and ability to engage in and benefit from global e-commerce.

 

Regarding the Jordanian Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the 2023-2027 Implementation Plan, Hanandeh noted that the Ministry seeks to position Jordan as a regional leader in the field of artificial intelligence and to provide a unique and attractive technological and entrepreneurial environment for AI to be effective, supportive, and a key component of the national economy.

 

The Minister of Digital Economy noted that the Ministry has begun implementing a national project to measure the readiness of public sector institutions to adopt artificial intelligence and to develop a roadmap for public sector institutions aligned with the national vision for artificial intelligence in the Kingdom.
