Speaker
of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Safadi, said: "Jordan, under the
leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, has remained at the forefront of
defending our brothers in Palestine and our people in the Gaza Strip in the
face of the brutal aggression, in which the occupier has perpetrated the most
heinous massacres against civilians, including children and women."
On Sunday he delivered alectuer at the Royal Jordanian National
Defense College for scholars in the 21st Defense Course and the 7th Master's
Program in Strategies for Countering Extremism and Terrorism. The lecture was
titled "The Parliamentary System and Designing National Policies."
Safadi
emphasized that His Majesty the King, since the first day of the brutal
aggression, has been calling for an end to the war and the entry of urgent
medical and relief aid to our brothers. He has traveled the world and made
contacts, in an unprecedented effort. He has contributed to clarifying the
facts to international public opinion and has redirected the compass toward the
Palestinian cause through the two-state solution, which guarantees security and
stability in the region and fulfills the aspirations of our Palestinian
brothers after years of denial, destruction, and massacres.
Safadi
added that the steps supporting the Palestinian people continued, with Crown
Prince Hussein bin Abdullah following up on the efforts of the field hospital's
heroes and delivering aid to the people of Gaza, who continued to fulfill their
duty toward their brothers despite the bombing and destruction. He also oversaw
the preparation of a second field hospital in the Strip. Her Majesty Queen
Rania Al Abdullah's speech also had an impact on Western public opinion.
Safadi
emphasized that we in Jordan are a united front: leadership, representatives,
senators, government, and people. This national solidarity around our
leadership, army, and security services has resulted in harmonious and
unwavering positions in defense of the just Palestinian cause. What Jordan has
offered to our brothers is a duty of conscience, as we and they share a common
cause, destiny, and history.
Safadi
explained that regarding the parliamentary system and the design of national
policies, we are discussing today a national constitutional matter. This title
stems from a constitutional position, and has long been a constant in our
political system, which we all consider the fundamental pillar of our
protection and the future of our children. This system has been inspired by the
values of democracy and openness since the founding of the Jordanian state.
Safadi
pointed out that the comprehensive modernization project launched by His
Majesty King Abdullah II in Jordan is progressing steadily toward reaping its fruits
with the advent of the state's second centenary. This project aims to modernize
political, economic, and administrative processes, with the goal of involving
everyone in decision-making and achieving partisan, programmatic parliaments in
which women and youth have an active and influential presence.
At
the end of the lecture, an extensive discussion took place, during which the
Speaker of the House of Representatives answered questions and inquiries from
the participants.
