The director of technical in supreme population Council gave a lecture professor galeb al-azeh entitled (Jordan's population policy and its relationship to national security) For the scholars in 19th defense course, in presence college commandant Brigadier General dr. Awad Al-Tarawneh and college chairman and directing staff .
He said population policy is defined as a set of laws, resolutions, instructions, strategies, plans, programmes and procedures adopted by the state aimed at influencing population dynamics and outputs, harmonizing population growth with available resources and making a positive change in the population's quantitative and qualitative characteristics.
He pointed out that the population dimension is a key focus in national security and development to ensure optimal investment of the population opportunity and the well-being of the Jordanian citizen, so the Council provides demographic data that guide policymakers in meeting the needs of different age groups of society, in addition to providing census information to all planning decisions.
For his part, he stressed that the Supreme Population Council is the national reference for all population issues related to development in terms of providing information and population indicators that help decision makers to plan, propose population policies and approve mechanisms and procedures aimed at meeting population challenges, in addition to proposing training programs and building national capacity in the field of population and development and raising awareness of population and development issues through the formulation of national strategies and plans, pointing out that the National Population Strategy 2021-2030 aims to contribute to Harmonize population growth and resources with overall development by facilitating the realization and investment of population opportunity.
He said ,As a result of the expected change in the age structure of Jordan’s population, the workforce will increase from about 2.4 million in 2020 to 4.10 million in 2040 and 4.6 million in 2050.
