Dr. Maan Al-Nesour, CEO of Al-Potash Arabia, at the Royal Jordanian National Defense College, gave a lecture on the role of economic management in national security for scholars at the 19th National Defense Course and the Master's Program "Strategies in Countering Extremism and Terrorism", in the presence of The College's Commander, Brigadier General Dr. Awad Al-Tarawneh, and members of the directing staff in the college. Dr. Al-Nesour said that the most dangerous component of national security is the economic component of its ability to control as many policy instruments as possible in the economic field, and the economic environment includes political, economic, social and legal conditions and is influenced by the stability of economic policies, the ability to predict their trends as well as economic policies that create a stimulating and encouraging economic environment for investment. Dr. Al-Nesour touched on the concept of national security in a more comprehensive manner, explaining the main pillars on which it is based, such as military security, economic security, social security and resource-related environmental security, noting that the concept of national security is about creating the right conditions for the implementation of strategic plans for comprehensive development with the aim of securing the State from home and abroad, which pushes threats of different dimensions, to the extent that it guarantees its people a stable life that provides them with the utmost energy to promote and progress. He stressed the importance of the economic component and considered it the most dangerous for its ability to control as many policy instruments as possible in the economic field, the economic environment includes political, economic, social and legal conditions and is influenced by the stability of economic policies and the ability to predict their directions, as well as the existence of economic policies that create a stimulating and encouraging economic environment for investment. The Eagles also spoke of the concept of economic security, describing it as the management of the resources and sectors of its economic system by States to ensure that their populations have the means to lead a stable and saturated life for their basic needs such as security, food, adequate housing, basic health care and education. Dr. Al-Nesour spoke about the literature of the political economy and the role of institutions and their management in the success or failure of states and reflects on their living standards, where the Eagles stressed that comprehensive political and economic institutions that represent all components of society and are based on the principles of power-sharing, productivity, education and technological progress, which is reflected in the living and well-being of citizens, and unlike exclusionary political and economic institutions based on the principles of extracting wealth and resources from part of the majority of society and employing them in the service of the benefits of the elite minority Powerful. The literature of the political economy indicates that nations run by comprehensive economic institutions are free from the control of the powerful elite, making the gains from development, education, technology, trade and prosperity a win-win for the entire nation, which reflects on the economic structure and the incentive of citizens to move towards production and progress, because the fruits of achievement benefit everyone, contrary to what happens in countries with exclusionary political and economic institutions because the economies built by exclusionary institutions are a medicine. It was not designed for the benefit of all, but for the benefit of a small elite that harnessed power and resources to relax it without others. Dr. Al-Nesour pointed to the positive and qualitative developments in the last three years, which directly reflected the company's financial performance and market value, which reached about 2.52 billion dinars in 2021 compared to 1.34 billion dinars by the end of 2018. The technological base, political development and diplomatic capabilities He touched on the relationship between military spending and economic growth, noting that there is a close relationship between military spending and economic growth, stressing the importance of military spending, which focuses on research and development, the absorption and deployment of technology and the expansion of the military and civilian industrial base.
