Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul-Moneim
Al-Oudat affirmed that the political modernization project sponsored by His
Majesty King Abdullah II constitutes a comprehensive national path aimed at
building a modern political system capable of responding to future
transformations and challenges. He explained that modernization is not merely a
political option, but a security necessity to strengthen the state's resilience
and preserve its stability.
This came during a lecture entitled "Political
Modernization as an Approach to Enhancing National Security in Light of
Contemporary Challenges Facing the National Environment," delivered to
participants in the 23rd National Defense Program. The program includes
Jordanian participants as well as officers from brotherly and friendly nations.
The lecture was attended by the Commandant of the College, Brigadier General
Rizq Al-Rawashdeh, and the head and members of its steering committee.
Al-Oudat pointed out that national security, in its
comprehensive sense, is based on the effectiveness of political institutions,
the depth of popular participation, and the establishment of trust between
citizens and state institutions. He noted that creating a stable and clearly
defined political environment contributes to strengthening freedom of
expression within the framework of the rule of law and empowers the state to
confront internal, regional, and international changes.
The Minister reviewed the pivotal role of youth and women in
the success of the political modernization project, emphasizing that their
empowerment in the political process is a fundamental lever for contributing to
and participating in public life, thereby strengthening social stability and
fostering a moderate national discourse that protects society from extremism,
rumors, and misinformation, especially in light of the modern challenges posed
by cyberspace.
In his lecture, the Minister also addressed the
complementary relationship between the political modernization system and the
role of the armed forces and security agencies, praising their efforts in
consolidating the rule of law and providing a secure environment that supports
the development of political life and strengthens the approach of a modern
democratic state.
The Minister stressed that political modernization
represents a long-term strategic investment in consolidating Jordan's stability
and enhancing its national security, affirming that building a robust political
environment gives the state a greater capacity to confront economic, social,
and security crises and adapt to their changes.
At the conclusion of the lecture, an extensive discussion
took place between the Minister and the attendees, addressing a number of
questions and topics related to the prospects of political modernization and
its role in strengthening the national security system.
