Minister of Government Communication, Dr. Mohammad
Al-Momani, stated: "The National Defense College is a key partner and a
national institution for training security media leaders on the foundations of
operational and strategic thinking, as national security now encompasses
intellectual, social, informational, and media aspects."
he delivered a lectuer today at the Royal Jordanian
National Defense College, entitled "The Ministry of Government
Communication's Strategy and its Role in Enhancing National Security," he
added that national media is one of the elements of the Jordanian state's
strength, reflecting the Kingdom's image as a state of law, stability, and
moderation. He pointed out that professional government communication is a
primary line of defense against misinformation and threats targeting societal
stability.
Al-Momani emphasized that "Jordan is considered one of
the best models that has successfully transformed its committed media system
into a pillar of strength for society and the state, contributing to its unity
and resilience in the face of challenges."
He added that national media committed to principles and
operating in accordance with the national interest is a fundamental factor in
the success of our reform process and in consolidating the foundations of
security, resilience, and stability.
He noted that the Jordanian state has been diligently
working to regulate and develop the media sector with awareness,
sophistication, and openness, in a way that enables it to convey a message
embodying the authentic values of Jordanian society, protecting its higher
interests, and preserving the social fabric and national unity. He explained
that there are numerous laws regulating media and communication in a way that
balances the state's higher interests with responsible freedom.
He pointed to the importance of media literacy, which aims
to create a state of societal awareness to deal with the massive influx of
information through various channels—a challenge faced by most countries. He
emphasized that a rapid and accurate communication response is a crucial factor
in crisis management.
At the end of the lecture, which was attended by the
Commandant, the Head, and members of the College's directing staff , an
extensive discussion took place during which the Minister answered the scholars'
questions and inquiries.
