The General Secretary of the Ministry of Water and
Irrigation lectures at RJNDC
During his lecture Tuesday at RJNDC entitled "Water
Policy in Jordan" for scholars in Defense course 16 and War course 25 that
the ministry looks to water as a key element for social, economic and political
development and national security by maintaining Provide adequate water supply to citizens and
other uses and enhance the coverage of sanitation services.
He added that the ministry is taking many new policies and
improvements to increase efficiency, preserve fresh water, reuse and recycle
all available water and optimize the use of resources by reducing technical and
administrative water losses. In addition
to improving the efficiency of energy use in the treatment and distribution of
water and the introduction of renewable energy.
He pointed out that the main challenges facing the water
sector are the widening gap between Syrian demand and our demands, which
contributed to increasing the demand for water by 21%, in addition to the
impact of climate change on the water sector due to the high temperatures, the
intensity of heat waves and the decrease in rainfall and lack of nutrition for surface
and groundwater sources. This is in
addition to the high capital cost of new water projects and the inability to
secure the necessary funding to invest in water sector projects.
